!PLEASE NOTE! As the session "Managing data for Machine Learning" (Tue 28.11. 13:30) had to be cancelled due to sickness, we changed the program for Tuesday as follows:
We start 13:00 with lunch in the "Simis", this is the restaurant in the LISA (Werner-Seelenbinder-Straße 28a) where the Fall School takes place.
Then 14:00 we will have some words of welcome, and Prof. Triesch will give his talk on "Machines vs. Brains: Some Frontiers of Machine Learning".
The remaining program stays as planned. 15:30 coffee break, 16:00 talk by Prof. Denzler "The Future of Machine Learning", from 17:00 BBQ (buffet inside).
Please excuse any inconveniences due to the change.
This Fall School is organized by the project "A virtual “Werkstatt” for digitization in the sciences".
Significant challenges have emerged in recent years concerning data use, analysis, storage, etc. In the “Werkstatt” project, expertise from computer science and application disciplines (including bioinformatics, biomedicine, biology, computer linguistics, geography, geophysics and physics) are brought together to tackle some of these challenges. The project focuses on developing intelligent systems in three key areas of data science: 1. Generic tools for machine learning, 2. Knowledge generation from data using machine learning processes, and 3. Semantic methods for the data life cycle.
In the Fall School “The Future of Machine Learning”, certain aspects of Machine Learning are covered in talks and hands-on sessions, culminating in a round table discussion. Besides the university point of view, perspectives from a DLR institue as well as from Carl Zeiss AG are examined.
