We recommend travelling to Imaginata by public transport. Imaginata is easily accessible by tram and bus from Jena city centre and the main railway stations.
By Public Transport

From the city centre
Tram 1 or 4 towards Zwätzen Schleife
From the central tram stop Stadtzentrum Löbdergraben, take tram 1 or 4 towards Zwätzen Schleife.
After approximately 7 minutes, get off at Kieshügel.
From the stop, walk down the steps to Emil-Höllein-Platz. Cross the square towards Leipziger Straße and follow it until you reach Camburger Straße (B88).
Cross Camburger Straße near the Aral petrol station. A somewhat hidden footpath beside the petrol station leads to a pedestrian underpass beneath the railway tracks.
On the other side of the railway line, you will reach the OBI store. At the intersection next to OBI, turn left onto Löbstedter Straße.
Imaginata will then be within sight. You can recognise the building by the sphere on its roof and the Imaginata sign.
From Jena West railway station
Bus 15 towards Rautal
Take bus 15 towards Rautal from the Westbahnhof bus stop directly in front of the railway station.
After approximately 15 minutes, get off at Scharnhorststraße.
Walk back along Scharnhorststraße until you reach Camburger Straße. Turn left and follow Camburger Straße for approximately 100 metres away from the city centre.
Just before the Aral petrol station, a somewhat hidden footpath leads to a pedestrian underpass beneath the railway tracks.
On the other side of the railway line, you will reach the OBI store. At the intersection next to OBI, turn left onto Löbstedter Straße.
Imaginata will then be within sight. You can recognise the building by the sphere on its roof and the Imaginata sign.
Alternative route via the city centre
From the nearby Westbahnhofstraße bus stop, you can take bus 10, 11 or 12 to Teichgraben in the city centre.
Alternatively, you can walk to the city centre in approximately 10 minutes. Follow Westbahnhofstraße towards the city centre, cross the large intersection straight ahead onto Schillerstraße, and continue until you reach Goethe Galerie. Turn right onto Teichgraben.
Continue towards Holzmarkt and then Löbdergraben. At the Stadtzentrum Löbdergraben stop, take tram 1 or 4 towards Zwätzen Schleife.
From there, follow the directions under “From the city centre” above.
From Jena Paradies railway station and the central bus station
Walk a short distance along Am Volksbad. When the road turns left and crosses the tram tracks, continue straight ahead instead through the narrow street An der alten Post.
At the end of the street, you have two options:
By bus: Turn right to reach the Stadtzentrum Löbdergraben bus stop. Take bus 15 towards Rautal and follow the directions described under “From Jena West railway station”.
By tram: Cross Löbdergraben towards the tram tracks and the Stadtzentrum Löbdergraben tram stop. Take tram 1 or 4 towards Zwätzen Schleife and follow the directions described under “From the city centre”.
On Foot
From the city centre – approx. 25 minutes
A useful landmark in the city centre is the main building of Friedrich Schiller University Jena (Universitätshauptgebäude/UHG).
From the large intersection north-east of the university's main building, follow Saalbahnhofstraße towards Spittelplatz. At the pedestrian traffic lights, cross the main road Am Anger.
Continue along Saalbahnhofstraße, keeping to the right until you reach the railway tracks. Use the pedestrian underpass to cross beneath the tracks. This brings you to Löbstedter Straße.
Follow Löbstedter Straße out of the city centre for approximately 2 km. Near the OBI store, Imaginata will come into view. You can recognise the building by the sphere on its roof and the Imaginata sign.
From Jena West railway station – approx. 45 minutes
Follow Westbahnhofstraße towards the city centre. At Ernst-Haeckel-Platz, continue straight ahead onto Schillerstraße.
Follow Schillerstraße to the entrance of the post office and turn right onto Engelplatz. Continue onto Grietgasse and follow it to Paradiesstraße, where you turn left.
After a few metres, turn right onto Löbdergraben. At the large intersection, keep left and continue along Löbdergraben until you reach the main building of Friedrich Schiller University Jena (UHG).
From there, follow the directions under “From the city centre” above.
From Jena Paradies railway station and the central bus station – approx. 30 minutes
Follow Am Volksbad and, after approximately 100 metres, turn right onto Grietgasse. Follow Grietgasse to Paradiesstraße and turn left.
After a few metres, turn right onto Löbdergraben. At the large intersection, keep left and continue along Löbdergraben until you reach the main building of Friedrich Schiller University Jena (UHG).
From there, follow the directions under “From the city centre” above.
From Jena Saalbahnhof – approx. 10–15 minutes
After leaving the station building, turn left and follow Spitzweidenweg straight ahead, away from the city centre.
Just before the Aral petrol station, you will find a somewhat hidden footpath on your right. Follow this path to the pedestrian underpass beneath the railway tracks.
On the other side of the railway line, you will reach the OBI store. At the intersection next to OBI, turn left onto Löbstedter Straße.
Imaginata will then be within sight. You can recognise the building by the sphere on its roof and the Imaginata sign.
By Car / Parking
Please use the designated Imaginata car park.
Important: The car park cannot be accessed via the main entrance to Imaginata. The car park can only be reached via the entrance on Ilmstraße.
